Merrickville and District Historical Society:  The Historical Society was formed in 1965 to encourage an interest in the history and heritage of Merrickville and to protect and preserve its 19th century stone and masonry homes and businesses. Parks Canada:  The Rideau Canal is a chain of beautiful lakes, rivers and canals winding 202 km from Kingston, at the head of Lake Ontario, to Ottawa, Canada's capital city. One of Canada's historic canals, the Rideau is maintained and operated by Parks Canada to preserve and present the canal's natural and historic features, as well as to provide a navigable channel for boaters.

Rideau Canal - UNESCO World Heritage Site:  The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded in 1945.  World Heritage sites belong to all the peoples of the world, irrespective of the territory on which they are located.  The Rideau Canal was recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 2007.
